Most recognized name for carpets in the bazaar…
If there is one shop in the bazaar that anybody can direct you to, this would be Şişko Osman’s carpet shop in the Zincirli Han building. And that’s a good thing as it only means reputation.
Şişko, which means fat in Turkish, is actually the nickname of the owner Osman Şenel who is a fourth generation carpet dealer. Mr. Şenel, a highly educated gentleman with degrees from the University of Cairo and Sorbonne, travels all around the country to acquire the best carpets and kilims that are out there. And believe us if we told you that this man knows everything there is to know about rugs. Good news is that Mr. Şenel can tell you anything you care to know about all the differences in material, dyes and patterns before you’re ready to commit yourself to purchasing a rug.
If you’re looking for a carpet make sure to visit this store located in the bazaar’s loveliest Han. And just remember that Şişko Osman only sells highest quality rugs so rest assured that you will go home with nothing less than an impeccable carpet or kilim.
We like: Silk rugs.
