Ground state of coffee…
Ask any Turk about what coffee they use to brew a cup of Turkish coffee and you’ll hear the name of Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi again and again. This business started when Mehmet Efendi took over his father’s shop on Tahmis Street in 1871, and began roasting raw coffee beans that he sold at this store… The rest is history.
The Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi flagship store is still located on Tahmis street today. By the way, Tahmis actually means where roasted coffee is sold, so you get the point. Go there and buy some coffee to take home with you. It’s the best.
