Have you met the tortoise trainer yet?
The Pera Museum, one of the handful private museums in Turkey opened in 2005, is housed in a historical structure, which was originally constructed in 1893 by the architect Achille Manoussos in Tepebaşı. The museum houses both a permanent collection as well as additional exhibitions. This museum bought the very famous Turkish painting Tortoise Trainer for 5 million TL, the largest amount ever paid for a work of art.
We recommend spending a few hours here so that you can soak in the beautiful pieces of art including orientalist examples depicting the Ottoman era as well as other unique pieces that are presented here.
Open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 7:00pm. Closed on Mondays.
